Easy, yummy gluten free pizza dough balls made with a very simple 3 ingredients yoghurt based dough and an even simpler basic no-cook pizza sauce!
If you’ve seen my last post {easy gluten free yoghurt pizza dough}, then this is very much the same, except turned intoΒ pizza flavoured dough balls instead!
I’ve tried my hand at all kinds of different pizza doughs since being gluten free. From long winded and complicated to super simple ones, some great and not so great, but I’m obsessed with this yoghurt basedΒ recipe now! I’ve already made it a couple of times in just the last few days alone. lol I don’t want to repeat everything I said in my previous post about it, but it’s basically such a quick and simple recipe to make, the dough is easy to handle and the result has a great texture and taste.
It’s also quiteΒ versatile and I can’t wait to incorporate the idea in different types of dough as well as playing around with it to see what ‘posher’ versions of pizza dough I can come up with.
But for now, here it goes in the form easy gluten free pizza dough balls! π
Difficulty level:Β easy
Preparation time:Β 5-10 mins (to make the dough)
Cooking time:Β 10-12 mins
Temperature:Β 200C (392F)
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 150g (1 cup) gluten free self-raising flour (I usedΒ Doves Farm)
- 145g (a bit less than 2/3 cup) plain Greek style yoghurt
- 1 Tbsp (15ml) olive oil
- Salt
- Black pepper
Toppings:
- Basic no-cook pizza sauce {recipe here}
- Extra mature cheddar
- Mozzarella (the semi-hard/low moisture kind that is often sold already grated)
Yields about 6 gluten free pizza dough balls.
Note:Β strained yoghurt (known as Greek style yoghurt) is a thicker kind of yoghurt and worked perfectly for this recipe. If using a more liquid/runny type of yoghurt instead, you may want to add a bit more flour than meΒ depending on how the texture turns out.
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200C (392F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Prepare the pizza sauce. I just whip together a quick one with tomato purΓ©e, garlic powder, herbs, olive oil and water. {recipe here}
- Place all dough ingredients in a bowl and mix well with your hands until you form a ball.
- Separate the dough into 6 portions and roll them into balls.
- Flatten with your hands.
- Add some sauce and cheese (but not too much!).
- Gently fold the sides over the filling and close it off by pinching the dough together with your fingers.
- Mould into a round shape.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven for 10-12 minutes.

Enjoy!
I’m trying the pizza version for the first time right now. Can’t wait to make the pizza pause. They’re kind of like little mini calzones. Thank you for sharing. It’s good to know there are others out there who are also trying to make living gluten-free easier!!!
Aww thank you so much, hope you liked it! I spend so much time researching and learning to cook in order to have a diet as ‘normal’ as possible, that I just felt I might as well add my own two cents out there. π
