UPDATE: PERMANTLY CLOSED
This free from vegan ice cream parlour opened up in Central London just a few days ago and, of course, as soon as I heard about it I had to go check it out! Everything is 100% gluten, dairy, nut and egg free!
They have lots of interesting flavours and fun toppings like cookies, brownies, caramel popcorn, gummy bears, etc. I went for the mango and white peach ice creams (the best out of the 4) while my boyfriend opted for the green tea and cookies & cream flavours. We both couldn’t resist the delicious ‘oreos’ as toppings. 😛
Considering everything is dairy free, we were pleasantly surprised with the texture not being too far from ‘real’ ice cream. They also weren’t overly sweet which is a good thing in my opinion. I’m not a huge fan of sickly sweet stuff (and god knows we already have enough of that with the never-ending sugar filled supermarket free from products!) so I personally enjoyed these delicate flavours.
Price wise it’s not the cheapest ice cream out there, but it’s to be expected. We paid around £6 each, including the toppings which come at an extra cost. However this was for the largest size. There are 2 smaller, cheaper options.
Also it’s nice to see how busy the place was, showing that there is a clientele for free from food. For that reason, we took ours away and ate outside. We were freezing, but it was worth it. It’s the first time I’ve been to an ice cream parlour in years so I wasn’t going to let the winter weather stop me ;), but I can tell I’m going to enjoy this place thoroughly once the summer comes. 😛 It’s amazing to have yet another 100% safe food outlet; we are really being spoilt in London lately with all these completely gluten free places opening up here and there.
I thought I should write an update as Yorica’s menu has evolved quite a bit during its first year! Not only do they now have waffle cones so you can have a proper ice cream parlour experience, but they’ve even added some hot options on the menu – waffles and crepes!
I’m not entirely sure how long these have been available – I hadn’t been to Yorica for a quite a while – but I finally got to taste the waffles today! Along with a delicious bubblegum ice cream, caramel sauce and gluten free oreo cookies!
And yes it was as yummy as it looks and sounds! 🙂
