TLDR: fantastic food, high quality, massive portions & excellent service – 10/10

Ever since moving to North London, Trent Park has been our hangout of choice to exercise the dogs. It’s just a few tube stations away from us and such a beautiful place. We have some amazing parks in London, but Trent feels so rural with the rolling hills, the woodlands, the fields, horses and rabbits everywhere that it’s hard to believe it’s still London. Always such a perfect escape from the city.

And that’s usually the only business we have in Cockfosters, that funny named station at the Northern end of the Picadilly line that no one ever really knows. But today we decided to have a look around the area and stopped by Skewd Kitchen on a whim. All I can say is what a find! ?

This little gluten free gem is just a short walk away from Cockfosters tube station. Not only do they have gluten free options, but they have a separate gluten free menu with so much choice. Even their chips are fried separately to avoid cross-contamination. If you love Turkish food and like me you’ve been searching far and wide for Coeliac friendly restaurants, then you’ll know that’s a pretty rare thing (at least in London).

You can find the full gluten free menu on their website {here}. There’s a lot to choose from, including a good selection of vegetarian options for those interested.

It’s not exactly cheap compared to your average Turkish restaurants, but the food is fantastic, the portions are massive and the service was brilliant. It was well worth every penny! One of my top gluten free finds of the year so far for sure.

I had the chicken shish which was so juicy and flavourful. The ultimate chargrilled kebab perfection.?

This came with a delicious rocket, tomato, cucumber and pomegranate salad that complimented the chicken shish so well. I mean you know you’re in the right place when even the side salad blows you away.

And those chips! So yummy and crispy, but soft on the inside. They went perfectly with the minty yoghurt dip they came with.

My boyfriend went for a very similar meal to mine, but with grilled sea bass instead. Seriously look at the size of that fish! You certainly get what you pay for. He said it was very juicy, tender and full of flavour.

And I know this is very random, but check out that half lemon! In most restaurants you only get a frustratingly small slice that doesn’t give you much lemon juice at all, but this place gives you a whole half. It may seem like a silly detail, but I personally think it shows how far Skewd Kitchen is willing to go to give their customers the best eating out experience. ?

It’s also worth mentioning that they have an outdoor terrace where they let us eat with our dogs. I can’t say the experience was as memorable for them as they suffered big time smelling all the delicious food from underneath the table, but at least they got little tasters. ?

If you live around the area or Trent Park ever brings you over on a beautiful sunny day, I can highly recommend Skewd Kitchen. It was the perfect sunny Bank Holiday lunch and I just cannot wait to return.
